ULSAN, Nov. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Despite the economic downturn in the shipbuilding industry, the employees of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. are holding a flea market event to help underprivileged neighbors, marking the 25th straight year that the event has taken place.
Hyundai Heavy Industries kicked off the “Donation of Love” campaign at Dong-gu, Ulsan yesterday.
The opening ceremony was attended by 20 people including Hyundai Heavy President and CEO Kang Hwan-goo, Ulsan Dong-gu district chief Jung Chun-suk and other important guests.
At the flea market event, more than 10,000 items were donated by the employees of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Hyundai Electric & Energy System Co., Hyundai E&T Co. and other subsidiaries.
The donated items included clothing, books, home appliances and household goods.

In yet another corner of the market, various agricultural specialties were sold at lower-than-market prices. The event is expected to continue until November 2.
The proceeds of the sale will be used to help neighbors in need and to provide scholarships for underprivileged youths.
