ULLEUNG ISLAND, Oct. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — A South Korean drone equipped with Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) capability flew over Dokdo Island on Thursday in commemoration of Dokdo Day.
The drone, owned by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, flew for a short time in Dokdo airspace due to strong wind.
It was the first time a study was conducted on South Korea’s natural heritage using a drone with LiDAR capability.
The institute explained that LiDAR drones can explore areas that have previously been inaccessible to humans, while saving the cost of conducting research.
