SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Naver Corp., South Korea’s top internet portal operator, announced on Wednesday a new feature in its mobile translation application Papago that instantly translates the words in pictures.
After taking a photo of street signs or restaurant menus using the Papago app, you can instantly translate the words in pictures using the app’s instant translation function.
The new function is available in six languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai.
The previous image translation service had an uneven quality and an incomplete sentence structure since it relied on simple text detection and translation system.
Naver said that it has upgraded the quality of Papago’s translation using artificial intelligence (AI) technology that delivers accurate translations by analyzing text design and sentence structure.
