SEOUL, May 14 (Korea Bizwire)The vast majority of healthcare workers in the Seoul area who have received COVID-19 vaccine shots have experienced side effects such as pain and fever.

The Seoul Medical Association conducted a survey of 1,708 members, with 88.4 percent of those who had been vaccinated (1,704 people) indicating that they had experienced side effects following the inoculation.

At 91.8 percent, almost all of the vaccine recipients were found to have received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Primary side effects included pain in the area of injection, body ache, muscle pain, fever, and other relatively mild symptoms.

Asked to score the severity of the side effects on a scale from 0 to 4, two thirds of the respondents said the side effects weren’t severe (levels 0 to 2).

Another 21.7 percent, however, gave a score of level 3, while 10.5 percent gave a score of level 4, the highest degree of severity.

Nevertheless, 78.2 percent of those inoculated recommended that others get the vaccine.

“The social benefits that can come about through vaccination are much larger than the severity of the side effects,” said Park Myung-ha, head of the Seoul Medical Association.
