SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government is launching a new energy information platform service starting from Monday.

The service is designed to make it easier for each household to check the amount of energy it uses on a monthly basis.

The platform provides members with information on the monthly amount of electricity, gas, water and heating usage per household.

Also available through the new platform are energy data, including greenhouse gas emissions classified by autonomous ‘gu’ district, administrative ‘dong’ and building unit, as well as an overview of energy policy trends.

In a statement, the city government stressed that it is the first time for a South Korean city to integrate and provide energy data through a single platform.

The city added that the service is aimed at encouraging citizens, businesses and public institutions to voluntarily reduce energy consumption.

The city government installed large touch screens in the lobbies of its Seosomun annex building and the Seodaemun District Office aimed at enabling visitors to check energy use throughout the city.
