SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Education on Friday signed a deal with two convenience store and supermarket chain operators BGF Retail Co. and GS Retail Co. as part of a job training initiative for disabled students.
Under terms of the deal, a total of 83 convenience stores, including CU outlets run by BSF Retail and GS25 outlets run by GS Retail, will be used for on-the-job training of these students.
During the on-the-job training, the disabled students will learn about the overall management of convenience and supermarket stores, including inventory management, packaging of goods, and customer service, assisted by trainers.
The agreement, designed to provide high-quality on-the-job training programs, is aimed at giving a boost to the training of disabled students, which has been reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as raising public awareness about the employment of such students.
“The successful entry of disabled students into society depends on private companies’ active cooperation and attention,” Education Minister Yoo Eun-hae said.
