SEOUL, April 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Outdoor advertising with digital billboards in windows and on rooftops and street poles will soon be permitted.

The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) has announced that a revised law to significantly ease existing regulations will go into effect in July.

According to the revision, digital billboards in various areas including rooftops, walls, windows, buses, and public facilities will be permitted. However, the excessive artificial light emitted from digital billboards will be controlled by a light pollution law.

In addition, Times Square-style areas, the most desirable neighborhoods for advertising, will be established near Gangnam station in Seoul and Haeundae Beach in Busan.

The MOI expects that the revision will create 59,000 jobs, spark 8.1 trillion won in production and add additional value of 3.6 trillion won by 2020.
