INCHEON, Aug. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – The Tour de DMZ, an international road cycling competition, is returning after three-year hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city of Incheon announced Thursday that the competition, which will take place in areas adjacent to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), will be held from Aug. 26 to 30.
The 5th Tour de DMZ will welcome 17 youth teams with 150 participants, 28 professional teams with 220 participants and 2,000 amateur cyclists.
The competition will be divided into three categories — elite junior riders, amateur cycling enthusiasts and ordinary citizens.
The International Youth Road Cycling Race, the primary event of this year’s Tour de DMZ, will start from Goyang, Gyeonggi Province and finish at Goseong with racers covering a 550-kilometer course across Ganghwa, Paju, Yeoncheon, Cheorwon and Inje.
The Masters Road Cycling Race for the sport’s enthusiasts will start from Goyang and finish at Cheorwon with cyclists traversing a 310-kilometer course.
