JEJU, April 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Jeju National University on the southern resort island of Jeju is now home to South Korea’s first college polo team.
The university said Monday that a new college polo team was established with funding from the school’s polo club, which was established in September of last year, by the Korea Polo Club.
At the launch ceremony last week, the school and the Korea Polo Club signed an agreement to cooperate and expand Jeju’s polo industry, provide medical treatment to horses, contribute to the local community, and promote the polo team.
Jeju National University plans to focus its efforts on training professionals in the horse industry and organizing friendly matches with major college polo teams worldwide, including those from Ivy League schools in the United States.
