SEOUL, April 26 (Korea Bizwire)A social enterprise backed by SK Innovation Co., the energy and chemical affiliate of the South Korean conglomerate SK Group, has unveiled a lightweight safety helmet made by recycling waste helmets.

Usisan said on Tuesday it had developed a lightweight safety helmet by recycling waste safety helmets and plastic bottles in collaboration with the Ulsan Metropolitan Government, Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Korea Railroad Corp., Hanguk Mold Co., and Black Yak.

After showcasing it at the Korea International Safety & Health Show scheduled to be held at KINTEX in Goyang, northwest of Seoul, in early July, Usisan plans to officially launch the product.

The new lightweight safety helmet is lighter and stronger than general safety helmets.

It is also designed to improve shock absorption and has undergone treatment to provide anti-bacterial properties.

Usisan plans to supply the lightweight safety helmet to logistics and parcel delivery service firms, as well as street cleaning workers.

These are the areas where the need for lighter safety helmets is high due to the nature of the tasks completed by employees.
