SEOUL, Aug. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s Gangnam District announced that it has installed sculptures along Teheran-ro, close to the World Taekwondo Headquarters, also known as Kukkiwon.
These sculptures are inspired by “poomsae,” which represents a set of patterns from Korean martial arts.
The decision to place these sculptures came after the district recognized that many tourists were unaware of the presence of the taekwondo headquarters in the vicinity.
Ranging in height from 2.9 to 4.2 meters, the five sculptures depict various stages of the dolgaechagi sparring kick — a challenging jump-and-spin technique.
On the same street, headed towards Gangnam Station, stand six more sculptures showcasing the balchagi (kick) and makgi (block) techniques.
