SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Kia Corp., South Korea’s second-biggest carmaker by sales, said Wednesday that its global corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, the Green Light Project, has established new foundations in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, Africa, with the intention of providing support to local communities.
The company held a recent completion ceremony for its inaugural agricultural and mining infrastructure project in Wedza, Zimbabwe, signifying the commencement of the 14th phase of the initiative.
Teaming up with Korea Food for the Hungry International, a Seoul branch of an international relief organization, Kia intends to oversee the development of infrastructure to stimulate the agricultural and mining sectors, which constitute Zimbabwe’s primary industries, until December 2025.
In Mozambique, where the project’s 15th site is located, Kia has partnered with World Vision to implement a project focused on enhancing the musical capabilities of the upcoming generation, extending until 2027.
In Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, Kia conducted an inaugural ceremony for the establishment of the region’s inaugural music education center on Tuesday.
Completion of the center is slated for the first half of the upcoming year.
