SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – On December 27, DL E&C announced the successful implementation of its groundbreaking D-Silence Service in an apartment complex located in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province. This innovative service, pioneered by DL E&C, marks a significant milestone as the first inter-floor noise notification system developed in Korea.
In a country where most people live in apartment buildings and inter-floor noise is a pervasive issue, this service is a timely solution that not only addresses the persistent stress experienced by residents but also aids in preventing potential disputes, some of which can escalate to severe incidents like conflicts between neighbors.
The prevalence of inter-floor noise in South Korea has necessitated measures such as the adoption of anti-floor noise mats, particularly essential for parents with infants and toddlers, as children’s activities often exacerbate the issue.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has proposed amendments to the Housing Act, suggesting a relaxation of height limits for apartment buildings with floor thickness exceeding the minimum construction standard of 210mm to mitigate inter-floor noise.
DL E&C’s D-Silence service does not directly reduce inter-floor noise but instead focuses on preventing noise from exceeding a predefined threshold. The core functionality involves automatic notifications sent to wallpads upon detecting vibrations above a specified level through sensors installed in the living rooms and pantries of apartment buildings.
A ‘caution’ notification is triggered when floor vibrations surpass the inter-floor noise standard for apartments (39㏈(A)) more than three times within 10 seconds, while a ‘warning’ notification is activated if this occurs more than six times in the same duration.
DL E&C is confident that this service will alleviate the stress of inter-floor noise for both downstairs and upstairs residents. Notably, D-Silence allows users to adjust sensor sensitivity, facilitating the establishment of mutually agreed-upon standards that reflect the residential characteristics of both the upper and lower units.
In the event of disputes arising between neighbors, the system enables a comparison of noise levels against the standards set by the Ministry of Environment or the average noise level within the complex, providing a valuable tool for resolving misunderstandings.
In 2021, DL E&C achieved a significant milestone with the development of ‘D-Silent Floor,’ a weight class 2 floor structure featuring a five-level sound insulation system, integrating 12 patented technologies.
