SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Company is fortifying its foothold in the North American market by introducing the redesigned Tucson, its compact sport utility vehicle (SUV).
At the press preview of the 2024 New York International Auto Show held on March 27 at the Javits Convention Center, Hyundai unveiled the “All-New Tucson” to the local market for the first time.
The Tucson has been a volume model for Hyundai in North America, with a record 209,624 units sold in the United States market alone last year.
The All-New Tucson, a refreshed model launched three years after the previous generation, boasts expanded interior space and enhanced convenience features, including over-the-air (OTA) wireless software updates, compared to its predecessor.
Targeting global markets, the lineup includes internal combustion engine variants alongside hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
Additionally, the North American market will see the introduction of the XRT model tailored to local preferences and a high-performance N Line variant.
Safety enhancements include the addition of second-row side airbags and body reinforcements for improved collision protection. The HEV and PHEV models feature Hyundai’s E-Motion Drive hybrid system, promising better driving performance and ride comfort.
Other notable features include a panoramic curved display comprising a 12.3-inch cluster and infotainment system, OTA capability, Digital Key 2, and an in-vehicle fingerprint recognition system.
In addition to the new Tucson model, Hyundai also unveiled the 2025 Santa Cruz, its North America-exclusive pickup truck.
As the first update since its 2021 launch in the region, the 2025 Santa Cruz introduces an XRT variant with off-road-inspired design elements tailored to North American customer preferences.
Like the All-New Tucson, the 2025 Santa Cruz incorporates OTA, a panoramic curved display, Digital Key 2, and an in-vehicle fingerprint recognition system.
Commemorating the 26th anniversary of its “Hyundai Hope On Wheels” corporate social responsibility campaign, Hyundai showcased the initiative’s milestones at the event.
Hope On Wheels supports pediatric cancer research and treatment, with Hyundai dealers establishing the foundation in 1998 to aid hospitals and research institutions focused on childhood cancer.
Throughout the New York Auto Show, which runs until April 8, Hyundai will occupy a 4,433-square-meter exhibition space, displaying 34 vehicles, including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 N, Kona EV, and Santa Fe HEV.
Hyundai’s premium Genesis brand will also have a separate 1,063-square-meter exhibition area adjacent to Hyundai’s, showcasing the recently unveiled high-performance Magma concept models and the forthcoming full-size electric SUV concept, the Neolun.
