SUNCHEON, Apr. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The Suncheon Bay National Garden in South Korea will be giving away 150,000 tulip bulbs to citizens and organizations over two days, on April 19 and 24.
Of the prepared bulbs, 130,000 will be distributed to individual residents on a first-come, first-served basis, with each person receiving 20 bulbs upon entry to the garden. The remaining 20,000 bulbs will be allocated to local organizations and agencies.
The giveaway event is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. at the South Gate Plaza of the Suncheon Bay National Garden.
Organizations interested in receiving bulbs can pre-register with their respective local district offices to claim up to 200 bulbs per group on-site.
“We hope to share the joy of spring with all citizens and breathe new vitality into their daily lives,” said a city official.
To ensure the tulips bloom beautifully next spring, the distributed bulbs should be planted immediately in well-drained soil upon receiving them.
The optimal planting depth is 1.5 to 2 times the size of the bulb. After planting, the bulbs should be watered once a week for a month.
From June onward, the leaves should be left to wither naturally, allowing the bulbs to strengthen for a vibrant floral display.
