PARIS & SEOUL, July 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics has begun distributing its Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones to athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, marking a technological milestone in Olympic history.
According to Samsung’s newsroom on July 23, the company is working in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to operate a special dedicated transportation program.
This initiative aims to swiftly deliver the devices to athletes in line with the Paris Olympics schedule. Currently, approximately 17,000 units are being distributed.
The Olympic Edition is based on the Galaxy Z Flip6, Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10.
Notably, this marks the first Olympic Edition device to feature artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
The inclusion of real-time translation functions is expected to significantly aid communication among athletes from various countries, effectively breaking down language barriers.
In addition to its AI features, the Olympic Edition comes preloaded with specialized services and apps designed for athletes’ use during the Olympic period.
These custom features aim to enhance the athletes’ experience and connectivity throughout the games.
