Military Chiefs of S. Korea, Canada Discuss Cooperation

SEOUL, April 3 (korea Bizwire)The top military officers of South Korea and Canada met in Seoul on Thursday and discussed ways to strengthen their cooperation for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Chairman Adm. Kim Myung-soo and Gen. Jennie Carignan, Canada’s Chief of the Defence Staff, held the talks at the JCS headquarters, according to the military.

Carignan emphasized the importance of close cooperation between friendly nations, while Kim shared his assessment of the security situation and vowed efforts to bolster bilateral military cooperation.

Kim underscored that their bilateral cooperation is more important than ever, saying deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is not only a threat to the Korean Peninsula but to the international community.

Carignan visited South Korea as part of her first trip to the Indo-Pacific region in her capacity, which has also taken her to Hawaii in the United States, Japan and the Philippines.
