SEOUL, July 1 (Korea Bizwire)President Lee Jae Myung and the president of the United Arab Emirates spoke by phone Tuesday and agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in advanced technologies and the energy and defense industries, the presidential office said.

In their first phone conversation since Lee took office last month, Lee told President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan that he looks forward to further advancing the Special Strategic Partnership established between their countries in 2018, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a written briefing.

The two leaders agreed on the need to expand collaboration into more “strategic and future-oriented areas.”

“In particular, they agreed to strengthen cooperation in fields, such as artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, the defense and arms industries and nuclear power,” Kang said.

They also agreed to meet in person during diplomatic events in the future, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held in Gyeongju, South Korea, later this year, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties, she added.
