SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — RM, the leader of the global pop phenomenon BTS, will deliver a keynote address at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in the historic city of Gyeongju on Oct. 29, organizers and entertainment officials said Monday.
RM is scheduled to speak for about 10 minutes during an afternoon cultural session focused on the creative economy and the growing influence of Korean pop culture. Titled “The Creative Industries and the Soft Power of K-Culture in the APEC Region,” the address is expected to draw on his experience leading one of the world’s most influential music groups.
With fluent English and a well-established presence in global cultural conversations, RM is poised to highlight how the rise of K-pop and related industries has reshaped South Korea’s standing on the world stage. Specific content of his speech has not yet been disclosed.
The APEC CEO Summit, held alongside the gathering of leaders from 21 member economies, brings together heads of state and business executives to discuss shifting economic trends and innovation under this year’s theme, “Beyond, Business, Bridge.”
RM will be the first K-pop artist to speak at the event, a symbolic milestone reflecting the expanding role of Korean entertainment in global economic and cultural affairs.
Hybe, the parent company of BTS’s label Big Hit Music, is serving as a top-tier “Diamond Sponsor” of the summit — the only entertainment company among major corporate backers. It plans to showcase its global business network and introduce fan-culture innovations, including the group’s signature light sticks, at an exhibition booth in Gyeongju.
