INCHEON, Aug. 5 (Korea Bizwire) – Two camels have appeared on a sand dune at Incheon’s Daecheong Island, dubbed the Korean version of the Sahara Desert. Incheon’s Ongjin County announced on August 4 that it had set up two camel sculptures on the island’s sand dune to revitalize tourism. The camel sculptures are 2.5 meters wide and 2 meters tall. The 660,000-squaremeter sand dune on the island is active, and island residents call it Daecheong Island Desert.
In addition, the county established a hawk sculpture near Hawk Rock, which is also found on the island. The island was a famous hunting place for hawks during the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1932). The county expects the new attractions together with the island’s natural beauty to draw more visitors.
