SARASOTA, Fla., April 3, 2014 (Korea Bizwire) – Brides Against Breast Cancer™ (BABC) is asking recent brides and bridal shops and designers to “pay it forward” with a tax-deductible gift to support cancer patients and their families.
“Our new campaign called ‘From this Day Forward’ focuses on the importance of donating gowns and accessories – including veils and tiaras – for our Nationwide Tour of Gowns,” said Amy Paulishak, senior vice president for Brides Against Breast Cancer, a part of The Health Support Network, Inc. “Our goal this year is to receive 5,000 gowns, which would allow us to provide 40,000 hours of free support services to those in need. Monetary donations and pledges are also gratefully accepted.”
Each year, Brides Against Breast Cancer takes its Nationwide Tour of Gowns events to more than 120 cities hosting weekend bridal shows, selling gowns and accessories in all styles, sizes and price ranges. Discounted gown prices average around $600 and range from $99 to more than $3,500. About 80 percent of the proceeds from the Nationwide Tour of Gowns – more than $2 million – support free programs and services for cancer patients and their caregivers.
“For me, a donation to Brides Against Breast Cancer was the perfect choice,” said, Mary Anne Carr, owner of M. A. Carr Bridal in Orchard Park, NY. “My mom passed away from complications of breast cancer, so that is something that is very near and dear to my heart. I am very happy to be able to make these donations to support the fight against breast cancer.”
Singer-songwriter, Margo Rey, who is the organization’s volunteer national ambassador and two-time breast cancer survivor, is donating her Jasmine couture wedding gown to the cause. “This is no ordinary dress. Your support of BABC and the purchase of this dress provides hope to so many in need of free programs and services for cancer,” said Rey. “It is my greatest wish that you wear this dress on the happiest day of your life, as I did, and that you donate it back to BABC as I did, and continue its beautiful legacy.”
Donated gowns and accessories are carefully prepared and loaded onto BABC’s “Big Pink Trucks” that travel across the country for the Nationwide Tour of Gowns. A bride-to-be will choose it to wear on her big day and purchase it at a deep discount. Unlike boutique bridal stores that carry only a few lines, each show in the Nationwide Tour of Gowns features hundreds of gowns with a wide assortment of styles and designs, including gowns designed for beach or outdoor weddings.
