SEOUL, Jun. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — South Koreans tend to move from one city to another instead of staying in the same city when traveling abroad.
According to an analysis released by Skyscanner of flight tickets purchased by South Koreans on the travel website, the number of travelers who searched for multi-city flights grew over 700 percent in the past two years.
Multi-city flights refer to ones that have a different point of departure and destination, allowing travelers to visit more places during their trip.
From January to May, multi-city flight tickets accounted for 17.6 percent of all tickets searched for by South Korean travelers, the highest rate among the 35 countries in which Skyscanner offers its services.
The growth rate of interest in multi-city flights was also the highest among South Koreans, as the figure only stood at 9.4 percent in 2015.
Sales of indirect flights also jumped 420 percent, allowing travelers to save up to 13 percent compared to direct flight purchasers.
During a layover, travelers who use Skyscanner’s stopover service can spend over 24 hours in the country and spend time sightseeing, adding another country to the list of countries they visited.
