Seoul, S. Korea, July 06 (Korea Bizwire) BMW has revealed a commercial on YouTube ahead of the July 29 launch of its all-electric car “i3.” The German luxury car maker said on July 5 it posted a 1-minute black-and-white video (http://youtu.be/89OA3a0pNoI) titled “the all-electric BMW i3 is coming. Unveiling July 29th” on YouTube.
The video begins with scenes of models of all ages getting ready to do something with joyful anticipation, followed with a caption “It’s time to learn a new German word: Vorfreude (joyful anticipation).”
It is expected BMW will plunge into the electric vehicle business with the launch of the i3. Actually the company had been involved for years in several electric car development projects across the world. Since 2008, it has run electric-car programs in the United States and Europe with 600 pilot cars, with an additional program in China since 2011.
The launch of the i3 may give a momentum to the whole electric car market, encouraging other electric vehicle makers such as Nissan, GM, and Tesla to accelerate their development efforts. Once the market gets bigger, the critical bottleneck problems such as the lack of charging stations and excessively high prices.
