SINAN, April 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Beautiful walkways have recently been paved along island villages on Gijeom and Soakdo slands, located in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province.
The four islands, connected by bridgeways, built 12 chapels along the 12-kilometer route.
Each chapel is named after one of Jesus’s twelve apostles, and built near viewing hotspots including ports or seawalls.
One of the chapels is built on a lake, and represents by far the most beautiful architecture on the islands.
The chapels were built by 11 sculptors and installation artists from in and out of South Korea.
The county’s idea of ‘isles of pilgrimage’ reflects the Christian faith practiced by most of the 120 residents.
