On September 13, the program achieved its highest viewership ratings on ENA (2.2 percent) and SBS Plus (3.7 percent), securing the second position in the TV-OTT non-drama popularity category for the period from September 4 to October 1, as compiled by Good Data Corporation.
The live broadcast, which aired on the Chonjang Entertainment YouTube channel after the final episode, attracted over 250,000 simultaneous viewers.
In line with its sensational popularity, the ordinary participants in this program garnered significant attention and faced a barrage of negative comments.
Posts analyzing the problematic behaviors of the participants gained notable traction in various online communities, and content analyzing their psychology also gained popularity on YouTube.
These videos saw numerous comments critiquing certain behaviors of the participants, some of which were even posted on their personal social media accounts.
Amidst this backdrop, an unusual scenario unfolded where four members of the program’s 16th season issued written apologies during the broadcast.
A plethora of revelations about the private lives of the participants surfaced online, including allegations that a male member operated a highly political YouTube channel and another male member failed to provide approximately 400 million won for stock purchases to a business partner.
Regarding Soon-ja, a participant from the 16th season, a netizen claiming to be her husband’s sister posted a comment accusing Soon-ja of neglecting her child and accruing a credit card debt of about 100 million won for entertainment purposes. In response, Soon-ja refuted the claim, stating that she does not have any sisters-in-law and does not drink or have any credit card debt.
