SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Delivery Hero Korea, a South Korean developer for major delivery apps including Yogiyo, Baedaltong, and Foodfly, announced its plans to make aggressive investments to take the lead in the South Korean delivery market.
Kang Shin-bong, CEO of Delivery Hero Korea, held a press conference on Wednesday at company headquarters located in Seoul’s Seocho District to announce the company’s path ahead.
The company, currently with some 60,000 restaurants participating in the delivery app service, seeks to reach 100,000 restaurants this year.
Baedal Minjok, the largest delivery firm in South Korea, has some 200,000 registered stores and 80,000 paid advertisers.
“We will double our investment on employment and marketing this year to expand the delivery market in the country, hiring up to 40 percent of our current number of employees this year,” Kang said.
“We are expecting to invest 100 billion won (US$87.8 million) on marketing. As for employment, we will expand from our current 500 staff members to 700 or 800 by the end of this year.”
Delivery Hero Korea will be introducing Yogo, a new service developed jointly with Barogo, a South Korean startup company specializing in logistics and distribution, that allows delivery from restaurants that normally do not offer delivery services.
Yogo will simplify all the required processes to deliver food from non-delivery restaurants to allow customers to make easy delivery orders.
Delivery Hero Korea is also preparing to provide delivery services for products at convenience stores. “Services provided by Delivery Hero Korea are growing rapidly,” said Kang.
“We will strive to offer satisfaction through our delivery services created based on cutting-edge food technology and our experience as South Korea’s leading delivery firm.”
