INCHEON, Feb. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — The Human Chain Movement, where more than 500,000 participants will come hand in hand to create a human chain along 500 kilometers of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) at the border of the two Koreas, will hold its opening ceremony at Boleum Island in Incheon.
Hosted by DMZ Peace Chain, a civil organization in charge of the movement, the ceremony will invite some 100 participants including staff and local residents to hold various traditional performances.
The Human Chain Movement, commemorating the centennial of the March 1st Independence Movement and the 1st year of the Panmunjom Declaration, will take place on April 27, where some 500,000 South Koreans will line up along 500 kilometers of the DMZ hand to hand.
“We decided to hold the opening ceremony at Boleum-do, an island that faces our national border with North Korea,” said a source from DMZ Peace Chain.
“We will continue to recruit 500,000 participants from across the country until the end of this month.”
