SEJONG, March 26 (Korea Bizwire)A new smartphone app allows users to check their current mental state.

Chungnam National University Sejong Hospital announced Thursday that it had developed inPHRsym, a smartphone app that can monitor and manage a user’s various mental illness such as anxiety and panic attacks.

As the so-called ‘corona blues’ – depression caused by the coronavirus outbreak – continue to spread across the country, more people are suffering from emotional disorders and panic attacks.

Going to a clinic, however, poses limits on effective treatment, since there are no daily records of the patient’s mental state and they have to rely only on each session with the doctor.

The app, developed by Cho Chul-hyun, a professor of mental health and medicine, records the user’s daily state of emotion, anxiety, and panic attacks, as well as patterns of smoking and drinking.

It syncs with a wearable device that measures the user’s sleeping patterns, activities, and heart rate, which can be used as valuable data during treatment.

“It regularly conducts assessment of various indices related to one’s mental state, and creates an intuitive report that allows easy access and understanding of one’s psychological pattern,” Cho said.
