CHUNGJU, Sept. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — A quarantine drone demonstration was held on Wednesday at a pig farm located in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province.
This trial performance showed how drones can be used to control disease and pests in the livestock industry, similar to current practices in the agricultural sector.
Each drone can spray up to 15 liters of disinfectant across 1.2 hectares of land in a 10 to 15 minute flight.
The drones are also capable of taking aerial photographs of pig, duck and chicken farms suspected of a livestock disease.
The local government plans to create a map indicating each farm in the city, as well as flight routes for effective interdiction of a pandemic spread.
