SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — One of South Korea’s major mobile carriers has created an eco-friendly playground using plastic from old cell phones.
LG Uplus Corp. has created an eco-friendly playground at a park in Gangseo District, Seoul, by materializing plastic from old cell phones and small electronic appliances collected for about five months.
The metal extracted as part of the project, which was jointly conducted with TerraCycle, a company specializing in waste upcycling, was handed over to the Korea Electronic Recycling Cooperative and recycled.
The profits generated through upcycling will be donated to a child welfare center by the end of the year.
