DAEJEON, Jul. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Bio-Express, a new genome analysis system provided by the Korean Bioinformation Center, is gaining the attention of industry experts and academics alike.
The Korean Bioinformation Center (KOBIC) is operated by the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), a government research institute.
According to KRIBB, Bio-Express is a cloud-based system that provides genome analysis for researchers who need large-scale analysis servers.
The system is composed of a high performance computing platform, a high-speed transmission system that sends large data at rapid speeds, and various pipelines.
With its user-friendly interface, the system is convenient for all who are interested in the service.
At present, Bio-Express contains 111 types of genomic information analysis programs and 22 analytical pipelines.
KRIBB says that requests to use Bio-Express by academic institutions, organizations and large corporations have been steady since the service was launched.
Over the past 15 months (between January 2017 and March 2018), 838 cases were analyzed.
KOBIC will continue to update the system and enhance its cloud functions in hopes of making a meaningful contribution in the field of domestic genome research.
An official at KRIBB said that a computerized infrastructure and a highly specialized and functional analytical technology is required to crunch large-scale genome data.
“The Korean Bioinformation Center will continue to carry out services that are helpful to researchers in the field of genomic research,” said the official.
