SEOUL, Apr. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — The government will crack down on illegally staying foreigners starting next week through the end of June, especially those involved in drug and other crimes, the justice ministry said Friday.
The National Police Agency, the labor and land ministries and the Coast Guard will join in the crackdown that will also target those working in entertainment businesses, illegally hired construction workers and those involved in facilitating illegal entrances and fake asylum applications.
“We will conduct an intensive crackdown on foreigner crimes that threaten the safety of our people, acts that hurt people’s livelihoods and facilitate illegal staying, and take stern measures, such as deportations and entrance bans,” the justice ministry said.
The ministry said it will also make sure to protect the human rights of foreigners during the crackdown.
