GURYE, May 14 (Korea Bizwire) — The second Korean “Oxfam Trailwalker” took place on Saturday at Gurye Natural Dream Park in Gurye County.
The event consisted of four-person teams that journeyed on a 100-kilometer walk for 38 hours.
The origin of the walk stemming from Hong Kong in 1981, its primary aim is for charity rather than chasing after records.
Before taking part in the event, the participants collect donations online to be given to charities worldwide in need of emergency aid upon completion of the 100-kilometer walk-a-thon.
A total of 472 participants in 118 teams from 12 countries including Singapore, China and New Zealand took part in the event in Korea.
Starting from Gurye Natural Dream Park, the participants walked 38 hours within the famous and beautiful landscape of Mr. Jiri and Gurye.

The accumulated proceeds from all previous Oxfam Trailwalker events have thus totaled more than $200 million, said an Oxfam Korea spokesperson, with more than 200,000 walkers from 12 countries participating.
The donations will be used to help people living in destitute conditions due to a lack of resources and money.
