“Game is there to win. You must focus intensely on what to do to win. This year’s season is over now and the next year you all need to be eagles flying high in the sky.”
“In order to win, you have to change your mindset fundamentally. What matters most is what to do from now on, not looking back. Just forget about what I did good or bad from this moment on. I won’t play a ballgame relying on individuals. If you can catch up with me, then catch up with me. Otherwise, just go to the locker room, get dressed, and leave.”
“You guys must be prepared to pour all you’ve got in one moment. Set your goal high for next season that you will play the last game of the playoff. Then you will have good results.”
Kim Sung-keun, manager of professional baseball team Hanhwa Eagles
SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — Kim Sung-keun, a 71-year-old professional baseball league manager, held an official inauguration ceremony on October 28 to take the job of the Hanwha Eagles manager for the next three seasons. He said after the ceremony he would change the club from the ground up to pull it from the worst-performing team in the league for years.
At the event held at the Daejeon Stadium, Mr. Kim stepped on the podium with bright smiles and said, “I love the ballpark. Just breathing the air in it makes my passion resurge.” He will soon set out to reform the team as he promised.
