SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — With the anticipated introduction of Apple Pay, a mobile payment service from Apple Inc., Hyundai Card Co. held an “apple festival” to celebrate its status as the country’s sole service provider.
The company held a surprise event on Monday, giving out apples to all employees at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
Employees each took a fruit from a pile stacked up in front of the lobby entrance, celebrating Apple Pay’s arrival in South Korea.
The credit card unit of Hyundai Motor Group publicized the event online, under the title “commuting to work with an apple.”
Other competitors may also become Apple Pay service providers due to anti-monopoly rules in the country.
Nevertheless, Hyundai Card is expected to benefit from becoming the only service provider at the start of the Apple Pay service.
