SEOUL, June 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Mobis Co., South Korea’s biggest auto parts maker, announced on Thursday that it had developed a lighting grill by integrating LED lighting to the grill at the front of vehicles.
The lighting grill enables users to turn the front grill into a lighting device.
Various scenarios are possible, including a self-driving mode, an electric car charging mode, a welcome light function, a sound beat display, and an emergency warning light.
The innovative grill can be used as a means of communicating with other vehicles or pedestrians and create unique design effects using lighting patterns.
At present, Hyundai Mobis is working on the verification of reliability for commercialization. Starting from next year, the company plans to launch mass production through promotions for client companies.
In addition, it developed ‘grill-integrated active air flap’ technology that can open and close the grill depending on operating conditions.
Since the grill itself moves depending on the temperature of the coolants, it automatically controls the inflow of wind for engine and motor cooling, thereby improving the heating efficiency of vehicles.
