SEOUL, Sept. 5 (Korea Bizwire) – Kakao Inc. will introduce a new service called “Story Channel” on its KakaoStory similar to Facebook page. Unlike a series of postings by friends, this is news feeds on certain topics.
Kakao, the operator of popular mobile messenger service KakaoTalk, said on September 4 that it would launch on the 16th Story Channel formerly known as “Story Plus” that has been provided on an experimental basis.
On Story Channel, users can share and receive news and discussion threads on wideranging topics such as brand marketing, business, and hobbies. Industry watchers commented, “It seems like this is similar to Facebook page.
If KakaoStory is a service allowing users to exchange latest news of themselves, Story Channel will likely be a service users can follow or post news. This is adequate for sharing business-related information rather than personal relationship building.” The company has not considered making profit from the service such as inserting ads in it.
The existing users of Story Plus can keep their accounts and switch to Story Channel accounts through a simple procedure. A user can open up to three channels with a single account, with up to four managers invited to each channel.
The manager can check a variety of statistical information, subscriber management, and story posting in an easy-to-view format. Story Channel is available on Google Play, Apple App Store, and Story Channel Web Page.
