SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – The board of directors of public broadcaster KBS on Monday approved a motion to dismiss its president, Koh Dae-young, who is accused of political bias and unfair labor practices.

Ten of the board’s 11 members attended the closed-door session to vote on the proposal submitted Jan. 8.

The broadcaster’s 2,200 unionized workers have been on strike since Sept. 4 demanding the resignation of Koh, who is close to the previous conservative Park Geun-hye government.

The final decision on his fate will be made by President Moon Jae-in.

The prolonged walkout caused major disruption to the state-controlled network’s operations.

Some workers returned to work in late December after the government broadcasting agency fired a conservative member of the KBS board, tipping the balance in favor of the liberal government and the labor union.
