Korea EximBank Supports North Korean College Students’ Employment

SEOUL, Korea, August 06 (Korea Bizwire) – Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea EximBank) announced on August 5 that it will be donating 20 million won to college students that have defected from North Korea. Kim Yong-hwan, president of Korea EximBank presented the donation to Jang Hyong-ok, chairman of the Together Foundation, with four North Korean defector college students in attendance.

The Together Foundation has been operating the ‘Employment Assistance Center for North Korean Defectors’ since 2007 to former North Korean residents settle in their new homes. The center offers various programs, and the state-run bank’s donation will be used to provide the college students with actual help for employment such as lessons on filling out applications and preparing for interviews.

During the donation ceremony president Kim said, “Korea EximBank has made efforts to provide material help to assist North Koreans settle in the community, and we hope that our donation can contribute to this cause.” Chairman Jang expressed his gratitude towards the donation and replied, “With support from Korea EximBank, we will be able to help North Korean defector college students to find jobs and look forward to a brighter future.”
