Seoul, Korea, August 01 (Korea Bizwire) – GM Korea announced on July 30th that the ‘Cheongla Test Driving Track’ located in Seo-gu, Incheon, will be designated as its sixth buried waste-free facility.

GM is working on a project to make all its facilities around the world waste-free as part of its environment-friendly policy. The company factory in Bupyeong-gu was the first facility to be certified as a waste component-free facility in Korea back in 2003.

GM Korea, one of GM’s largest subsidiaries, has constantly strived to reduce waste and preserve the environment by following GM’s eco-friendly policy that include disposal and minimization of waste, recycling resources, composting waste, regenerating energy with unused resources, and generating energy by incinerating other types of leftover resources.

Tim Lee, president of international operations at GM said, “As a company manufacturing cars for consumers all around the globe, we are trying to preserve the environment at all our companies regardless of its location. All our 125 facilities around the globe have roadmaps for each to become waste component-free by the year 2020.”

GM has actively pursued its environment-friendly policy to minimalize waste, recycle used resources, and eliminate buried waste since 1997, and currently has the most buried waste-free facilities while recycling and reusing the most amount of waste among car manufacturers.

GM has also proposed its specific plan called ‘The Business Case for Zero Waste” to reduce waste produced by business of all sizes and to increase the effectiveness of the use of resources.
