SEOUL, July 28 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korean Cultural Center in Argentina on Tuesday (local time) held an opening ceremony for the exhibition “Illustrations for Korean Picture Books” by acclaimed author and illustrator Baek Heena.
The exhibition was presented under the title “Reading Korean Stories through Pictures.”
Baek, the 2020 laureate of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world’s most renowned prize for children’s literature, employs various materials such as paper, cardboard, and textiles to craft dolls and props.
She then photographs these elaborate scenes, which are subsequently used to create picture books.
The exhibition showcases illustrations from Baek’s most popular books, “Jangsutang Fairy” and “Magic Candies,” for the first time ever in Argentina.
These books have been translated into English, Spanish and other languages, making them accessible to readers worldwide.
