SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Soulful veteran singer Lee So-ra’s new release, “Song Request,” featuring K-pop boy band BTS member Suga, took local and global music charts by storm, according to charts results released Wednesday.
The mellow ballad, Suga’s first collaboration, written by rapper and singer-songwriter Tablo, topped six major local song charts, including Melon, Olleh Music and Bugs, as of Wednesday morning.
The song was released in the evening the previous day.
On the day of its release, BTS mentioned the song on its Twitter account, attaching a screenshot of the single’s cover.
“I request this song. The voice of our senior, Lee Sora, is so good. The voice of Suga is very good,” the Twitter feed said.
Within 24 hours of its release, the song took fourth place on iTunes’ Top 200 song chart in America and topped iTunes music charts in 44 other foreign countries and regions including Brazil, according to Lee’s management agency, Erta Ale Entertainment.
“Topping iTunes charts in 44 regions marks the best record ever for any Korean female artist,” her agency said.
The song depicts the consoling moment of listening the radio on a lonely, rainy night. Suga embellishes the song with his soft rapping.
