SEOUL, Dec. 2 (Korea Bizwire)Only four out of 10 South Korean children and teenagers think the country is a good place to live, a survey showed Thursday.

According to the online survey conducted with the participation of 1,000 Koreans between 10 to 18 years of age by the nongovernment organization Save the Children, 39.4 percent of the respondents said that the country was a good place to live.

Another 28.9 percent said it wasn’t a good place to live, and 31.7 percent said it was just okay.

The share of those who said the individual rights of children in general are well observed remained low.

In more detail, 26.2 percent said the right to leisure was well observed, compared to 31.2 percent for the right to non-discrimination, 33.6 percent for the right to participation, and 36.8 percent for the right to health.

The factors that prevent the guarantee of rights for children include low awareness about such rights (71.8 percent), lack of participation opportunities (71.1 percent), and shortage of legal and institutional systems (44.5 percent).

At 94.3 percent, a vast majority of the respondents said that the government should revise related laws to improve the human rights of children.
