SEOUL, Jul. 24 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics Inc. on Monday showcased five different Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors that can be utilized at homes, in line with the company’s push to build up its latest technology.

IoT is a concept in which objects are connected to the Internet and can identify themselves to other devices in order to exchange necessary data for improved efficiency and user convenience. Global tech giants have been tapping deeper into the area, especially in connection to home appliances.

LG Electronics said the five different sensors, respectively, detect water leaks, smoke, carbon monoxide, doors and movement. The products are available for purchase at LG’s local retail shops.

The IoT devices connect to SmartThinQ, a mobile application developed by LG Electronics used to control home appliances.

The sensors are capable of sending data to smartphones, notifying users in case of situations, such as water leaks. The company said the carbon-monoxide detector will be helpful in protecting people as the gas is colorless and odorless.

The door sensors will send alarms to smartphones that can better protect homes from intruders.

The price tag of the new sensors range from 32,000 won (US$28.60) to 66,000 won. The products are manufactured by LG business partners.

LG Electronics said it will continue to expand partnerships with other companies to expand its smart home environment.
