SEOUL, June 9 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Household & Health Care Ltd., a major South Korean cosmetics and household goods maker, said Wednesday it will create a honeybee park with an area of 4,700 square meters in Onsan industrial park in Ulsan, where it has its own production facilities.
This move is part of efforts to herald the importance of honeybees, which are declining in number due to climate change and environmental pollution, as well as to expand the company’s biological diversity-supporting ESG management.
Another factor behind this move is a string of mass disappearances of honeybees starting last winter.
In collaboration with a local environment group, the Ulsan City Government, the Ulju County Office and the Community Chest of Korea, the company plans to grow flowers and as well more than 500 honey plants in the industrial complex.
