SEOUL, Apr. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul city government decided Friday to allow an outdoor reading event to be held at Seoul Plaza in front of City Hall on May 31, effectively rejecting the request of an annual LGBTQ festival there.

The LGBTQ festival was one of three events that sought to use the plaza on the same day, including a Christian group event, and a committee under the city government unanimously agreed to grant the approval to Seoul Metropolitan Library for the reading event.

The committee said the library had already signed up to use the space before and after the date concerned, and it granted the approval to the library to maintain the continuity of the event and its efficiency.

It marks the second time the annual queer festival has been opted out of its usual spot in the Seoul Plaza after the city gave the ticket to a Christian group to hold a youth concert last year.
