SEOUL, July 14 (Korea Bizwire) — A YouTube video of pianist Lim Yun-chan’s performance at the 16th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition this year has become the most viewed video out of all performances of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
“This video just became the most watched version of this piece on YouTube,” the Van Cliburn Foundation said on Tuesday.
The video amassed 4.8 million views over the past three weeks after it was posted on the foundation’s official YouTube channel on June 20.
The video has surpassed the number of views of the performance by legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz, who played Piano Concerto No. 3 at New York’s Avery Fisher Hall in 1978, which amassed 4.17 million views.
As of Wednesday, all four videos with the highest number of views on the foundation’s official YouTube channel are Lim’s performances.
