SEOUL, May 11 (Korea Bizwire) Chatting+, a joint messaging service run by South Korea’s three mobile carriers, has become possible for users to cancel messages that they have already sent.

The three carriers — SK Telecom Co., KT Corp. and LG Uplus Corp. — said Monday that they will add the ‘sent message cancellation’ function to Chatting+, a Rich Communication Services (RCS) text messaging service.

This function was first introduced by KakaoTalk, the country’s top mobile messenger. It enables users to delete sent messages within five minutes after the messages are sent, regardless of whether the receiver has read it or not.

This function will first be available on Samsung Electronics Co’s latest smartphone line, the Galaxy S21 series. The three carriers plan to expand the scope of handsets that can use the new function on a gradual basis.

Starting from February, the app has also provided functions of ‘sympathy’ and ‘reply’ aimed at making it easier for users to express their opinions.

As of the end of April, the combined number of the three carriers’ Chatting+ subscribers totaled 27.5 million. The service is available on 69 types of smartphones.
