More than 70 Percent of Korean Mobile Device Users Pay through One-Click Services

SEOUL, Apr. 24 (Korea Bizwire)Seven out of ten mobile device users have purchased a product more than once through one-click mobile payment systems in the last six months.

According to a report by DMC Media, a digital advertising company, 72.1 percent of 948 mobile device users polled have used one-click payment services which only require them to input a password or phone number to complete the payment.

When asked about why they used such systems, 45.7 percent of the respondents answered that they found the one-click system the most easy to use, while 24.2 percent said that they were attracted to various extra benefits associated with each payment service.

More than 70 percent of those who have used such systems said that they were very content with the process and will continue to use them. For those who hadn’t use a one-click system, 65.7 percent answered that they were afraid of information leaks and security issues, while 38.6 percent were simply too accustomed to existing, more complex payment services.

Some said that they were too bothered to install new applications for the new simple payment service.

The average one-click payment user purchased products 3.4 times per month over the past six months. The average transaction was 110,000 won (US$ 101). One-click services provided by financial companies were the most popular, while services from SNS platforms were the least popular.
