SEOUL, July 31 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean instant noodle maker Nongshim Co. said Sunday it will be releasing Shin Ramyun The Red, an extra spicy limited edition of its flagship noodle Shin Ramyun, on August 14.
Shin Ramyun The Red measures around 7,500 Scoville heat units (SHU), which is twice as spicy as the original Shin Ramyun (3,400 SHU), according to the company.
This new edition surpasses Angry Neoguri (6,080 SHU), which is currently Nongshim’s spiciest instant noodles.
The product was developed to meet the growing demand and expectations of consumers for spicier options, the company said.
Nongshim has enhanced the seasoning by adding more Cheongyang chili pepper, as well as spices like black pepper, garlic and onion.
